Parents and Governors expect schools to make projections of Keystage performance, communicate those expectations to them and the aspects of their work or goals for improvement. These goals or targets are also important in the classroom to the pupils and teaching assistants so that progress is acknowledged and recorded. The advent of observational assessments such as the Government's Assessing Pupil Progress (APP) and the requirement for electronic reporting to parents and carers means that even small schools need more than a spreadsheet to Track and Assess Pupil Progress.

The TaAPP software provides a secure server based system for entering goals and recording when these are achieved. It also allows observational assessments such as APP to be used as well as more formal QCA assessments and other marks, attendance records etc to be entered in School or from home over the Internet. The on-line reporting allows parents and carers to login and review the progress their child has made as well as understand the targets set and read comments from teachers. In School, senior staff and subject coordinators can access numerical and graphical data to review trends and support resourcing decisions. The database server is located in a secure server center and the school is releaved of the installation and backup responsibilities. Nonetheless authorised school staff can upload and modify goals and assessment definitions independently of our staff. Of course, it is also possible to import data such as pupil records from other systems as well as export tables to spreadsheets.
